Woodworking Summer Camp Ages 7-11

This is an exciting and rewarding woodworking experience. The Childrens Woodshop Bus is offering  small group summer camps for beginning and experienced children (6 students, ages 7-11) . Emphasizing easy and safe techniques, campers will use basic hand tools (no power tools)  to construct their projects.

General Content:   This is a practical and productive camp for kids who want to build things out of wood with hand tools. This is not a “free style, make-anything-you-want” camp. Sample project ideas are used to jump-start the creative process and skill development. Both beginning and experienced campers will progress at their own pace to build 5 – 10 projects during the week.

Categories of project ideas include: floating toys (yes, the boats will float); rolling toys  (yes, they will roll with built-in wobbles); flying toys (no, they don’t actually fly, but they will drop very fast if thrown); desktop and other useful projects.   In addition to miter box sawing, campers will learn how to use a coping saw to make curved projects (dogs, ducks, dinosaurs, etc.) A portion of each day will include tool maintenance and some specialty techniques.

Returning and experienced students will be encouraged to build more complex projects.  See the Project Photos page to view some easy and complex project ideas, and also check out the Woodworking Summer Camp Project Photos to explore even more complex ideas

SAFETY NOTES:  SAFETY GLASSES/GOGGLES ARE PROVIDED AND INCLUDED IN THE FEE AND CAMPERS MUST WEAR CLOSED-TOE SHOES.
